Our Mission Statement
The Salvation Army Cobourg Community Church is Centred on Christ, Connected to Community, & Committed to Care
The Salvation Army Cobourg Community Church Five Core Values
Christ-Centred: Jesus Christ is central to all that we do as individuals and as a church family. All ministry is built on the foundation of Christ’s love and teaching.
“ Jesus is the ‘stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone.’ Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”
(Acts 4:11-12, NIV)
“ God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church. And the church is his body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with himself.” (Ephesians 1:22-23, NLT)
Community: Through valuing and serving others we are committed to the growth and nurturing of our fellowship and the community in which we live.
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:34-35, NIV)
Worship: We are led by the Holy Spirit to show adoration to God through prayer, preaching, and participation in creative expressions of praise.
“Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’” (Luke 4:8, NIV)
Evangelism: We are committed to passionately sharing the life changing message of hope demonstrated through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20, NIV)
Transformation: By intentionally allowing the Holy Spirit to work within us, God has the power to change lives today.
“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” (2 Corinthians 5:17, NLT)
“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” (2 Corinthians 3:17, NIV)
